Sorel Mizzi has had great poker year so far in 2010, finishing inside top ten in over ten tournaments. He is currently leading the leader board because he has also won 4 tournaments so far this year. This is a massive jump from last year, when he was only ranked 174th and in 2008 he finished in 91st. So he does seem to be doing very well this year. He also likes to play rakeback deals online sometimes.

Sorel is currently leading the pack with 1,298.07 poy points. With 773.57 points, it is Thomas Marches in the second place. Thomas is followed by Juan Carlos Mortensen in 3rd position with 758.55 points. Not far behind is Shawn Buchanan with 699.83 points.

In fifth just behind Shawn Buchanan is Samuel Stein with 698.90 points. Then its Frank Kasela in sixth with 693.55. Daniel Shak is behind in 7th with 664.08. Jason Mercier was last years player of the year and this year he is struggling a bit in 8th with 652.05 poy points. He has still had a very good season but he might not win the player of the year title this year as he is quite a bit away. Daniel Alaei finished sixth last year and still is in the hunt to finish in top 5 this year currently ninth with 627.30 points. With 595.63 points Chris Bell is in tenth position. Followed by Mike Beasley with 579.18 points in eleventh.

Sorel is certainly a massive surprise in the leader board. No one expected a competition from this man and now they have got it. He has bounced back massively after a terrible season in 2009 and has silenced his critics.

I am looking forward to few pokerstars rakeback and a full tilt rakeback online tournaments, just to try what the fuss is all about, who knows what might happen. One can always dream.

Rake the rake poker is offering good deals when you introduce a friend on to this online poker site. If you introduce a friend you will be able to win LG home cinema system, pocket cinema, an Apple IPad or a replica jukebox. The good thing here is that your friends also get poker cash back while you are winning or earning monthly commissions, so its a win win situation for both. There is a win win situation for both of you.

During June and July, RakeTheRake players who refer friends to the rakeback specialist’s site will rank in a new leader board. And the ten players who notch up the most referrals by 31 July 2010 will win some fantastic prizes: an LG champagne flute home cinema system (worth $720), an Apple IPad (worth $625), a mini jukebox replica (worth $795) and a really cool pocket cinema (worth $360) are all up for grabs. Another good thing is that 6 runners up will receive good RakeTheRake merchandise.

RakeTheRake players simply need to login to their account and then from there invite their friends to sign up to rakeback by entering their personal email addresses. It’s completely free to join and ensures they get cash back from every game, win or lose. Alternately players can select special banners and text links to add to their own websites to promote the benefits of rakeback to players. The referral period runs from 1 June until 31 July 2010. A cash alternative to the 4 main prizes will be available.

Players who refer friends will get regular monthly commission from RaketheRake of 4% of their player’s net rake and 1% of all sub referalls which is a great deal. The commission you receive is not taken from your player’s rakeback. A commission of 5% of the pot is taken by the online poker room in every poker game and it is not returned unless you have a rakeback program in place.

So enjoy game of betfair poker or full tilt poker at rake the rake today.

The fastest becoming addictions today is definitely online poker. Millions of people log into the Internet to play poker online for many different countries every day. Online gambling’s positivity and negativity is a long debated topic between many scholars. Before making any assumptions on online poker you should certainly read both positive and negative factors of it.

Firstly you will have to understand that online poker and online casinos or gambling are completely different things. Online poker has the most people active on it than any other internet gambling games. These people from different parts of the World bring different competitiveness in to online poker because of winning mentality. They enjoy playing poker for competition and also fun. Being a part of any competition will give you the will to win. Because of this their thinking will also improve in other fields. Let’s say if someone who has a competitive nature joins the poker room with someone who doesn’t have that much of a competitive nature then what happens. Having this competitiveness other person would want to win too so it will help them improve their nature in competing.

This is a positive point but if someone keeps going online to play poker in a daily basis then it can change into a negative thing. People who are strong within themselves can easily restrict themselves from playing online poker regularly and not getting addicted to it. This definitely depends on a person’s mental strength if it is strong enough to not get too addicted towards online poker.

There are many online poker websites which provide great deals on full tilt rakeback or absolute poker to attract people to play in a regular basis. People addicted to online poker will definitely get attracted to the deals but people who are mentally strong can restrict themselves or stop themselves from going to the Website. Looking at the positive effect it definitely sharpens the mental ability. Calculating, sensing the moves of other people, when to stop and when to move forward can help in improving the mental senses.

Poker player of year trophy is given to a person who has an outstanding year in poker tournaments online and offline. To win one online poker tournament is a tremendous achievement but winning 6 in a year is just great. Last year Harrison Gimbel of USA won 6 poker tournaments offline and online and deservedly took away the title of player of the year. His winning for the whole year was around 3 Million dollars. That is a big margin for someone who is still a teenager at 19.

He is known as gilber321 in online poker tournaments. He started playing poker since his early teens with his brother who also was in his teens only 2 years older than Harrison. They started playing against their friends and families with just $10 buy in. Harrison won his biggest cash prize of $57,377.50 in PokerStars weekly tournament for coming second and his buy in was $1000. He said he was never an online cash player and has always been in love with the live tournaments. He is still only 19 and still less experienced than other players who play in love poker tournaments. He says his poker idols are Dario Minieri and Phil Ivey and his favorite game is NLHE MTTS. He goes down to his local chinese restaurant every week as he loves chinese food.

As I said earlier he won 6 tournamets in 2009, I have listed the name of the tournaments he won below. The Nightly Hundred Grand, $22,000 guarantee (1r+1a), $33,000 guarantee (1r+1a), $40,000 guarantee, $33,000 guarantee (r+1a) and $55+R NL Hold’em [$40,000 guaranteed]. In June 2009 he won the 2009 Florida State Poker Championships. Recently In January he won the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main event. It definitely seems like this guy is definitely climbing the steps quickly and other players should watch out for him.

He also finished second and third 5 times in ten other tournaments in 2009. He said he will be participating in many tournaments which includes rakeback deals and full tilt poker in next few months.

Adopting new skills is vital for your brains.
Past researchs has shown that many people have a tendencey to repeat their behaviour and withdraw punished ones.

These days, poker is completely mobile! Mobile phone poker means that you no longer have to be glued to your computer, or wait for your friends’ schedules to be free for a meet-up, when you feel the urge to play. You could be waiting for the bus, while going all-in with a straight flush, or be chilling out in the park, while bluffing your way to a big win with a ten high.

With the option to play poker on your mobile phone now so widely available, mobile poker reaches more and more phones by the day. Phone poker games can be downloaded for free, and work on nearly all phones. If you have an iPhone, then you will be particularly spoilt for choice when it comes to mobile phone poker games.

Many online poker sites have taken their website and adapted it for the particular needs of phone poker players. As they are already aware of what poker players want and like as a result of catering for them for years on the Internet, they have wasted no time, and made no mistakes in getting their mobile phone poker games just as you would want them to be. Whilst you will not have as many games choose from, your favorites will be available, and that is what really matters.

These games allow players to pit their poker wits against computer controlled players, or have a full scale game with all of their friends at the same time. As the makers of mobile phone poker games have met the needs of poker players so well, phone poker has already grabbed a decent share of the highly competitive mobile phone game market.

Still, even though mobile phone poker has already shown its merits, some poker enthusiasts are reluctant to give it a try as they question whether it is as ‘real’ as it should be. However, those with doubts about it would soon forget about them if they took the time to find out how much money people are winning every single day through phone poker alone.

As an added bonus, if you are a serious poker player, then playing phone poker represents a real opportunity to cash in. Deciding to play poker on your mobile phone is quite possibly one of the best decisions that you can make if you approach it in the right way, as people tend to play a lot looser than they do when they play on the Internet or face to face. The reason for this is that they are often out and about, and only half paying attention, as opposed to focusing their full attention on the game.

At the very least, you can make use of mobile phone poker to get some practice in, and work on your poker playing skills. Playing it an extra hour a day whilst on your lunch break, or whilst waiting around for people, will significantly improve you as a poker player, and the next time you are playing face to face, or on the Internet, you will be more experienced, which, ultimately, leads to winning more money.

Many people are intimidated on their first visit to a public card room. Knowing what to expect and some simple rules of etiquette will help the first-time visitor relax and have a good time. Any card room. with more than a few tables will have a sign-up desk or board for the various games being played. Usually someone will be standing here to take your name if a seat is not immediately available. This person can explain what games are offered, the betting limits, special house rules and so on. This is the moment of your first decision: which game and for what stakes?

Choosing a game is fairly easy; you already know which game is most familiar to you. You may be surprised to find that your favorite home games are not spread in public card rooms. Most will offer one or more of Texas Hold’em, Seven-Card Stud, and Omaha Hold’em (usually hi/lo split, 8-or-better for low). Sometimes you will find California Lowball (5-card draw for low), Seven-Card Stud hi/lo, or Hold’em variations like Pineapple. You will rarely find High Draw (5-card draw for hi), and will never find home game pot-builders like Anaconda, Follow-the-Queen, 7-27 or Guts. Except for the joker in draw poker, card rooms. never use wild cards.

Choosing a betting limit is a bit harder. It is best to start playing at a limit so small that the money is not important to you. After all, with all the excitement of your first time playing poker there is no need to be worried about losing the nest egg to a table full of sharks. Betting limits are typically expressed as $1-$5 or $3-$6, and may be “spread-limit” or “structured-limit”. A spread-limit means one can bet or raise any amount between the two numbers (although a raise must be at least as much as a previous bet or raise). For example, in $1-$5 spread-limit, if one person bets $2 the next person is free to call the $2 or raise $2, $3, $4, or $5, but cannot raise just $1. On the next round, everything is reset and the first bettor may bet anything from $1 to $5. In structured-limit like $3-$6 (usually recognizable by a factor of two between betting limits), all betting and raising on early rounds is in units of $3, and on later rounds is in units of $6. One only has a choice of *whether* to bet or raise; the amount is fixed by the limit. One usually doesn’t have a choice between spread and structured betting at a given limit. Keep in mind that it is quite easy to win or lose 20 “big bets” (the large number in the limit) in an hour of play. Also, since your mind will be occupied with the mechanics of the game while the regular players consider strategy, you are more likely to lose than win. In other words: choose a low limit.

If the game you want is full, your name will go on a list and the person running the list will call you when a seat opens up. Depending on the card room., you may have trouble hearing your name called and they may be quick to pass you over, so be alert. Once a seat is available, the list person will vaguely direct you toward it, or toward a floor man who will show you where to sit.

Now is the time for you to take out your money and for the other players to look you over. A good choice for this “buy-in” is ten to twenty big bets, but you must buy-in for at least the posted table minimum, usually about five big bets. Most public poker games are played “table-stakes”, which means that you can’t reach into your pocket for more money during the play of a hand. It also means that you can’t be forced out of a pot because of insufficient funds. If you run out of money during a hand you are still in the pot (the dealer will say you are “all-in”), but further betting is “on the side” for an additional pot you cannot win. Between hands, you are free to buy as many chips as you want, but are not allowed to take any chips off the table unless you are leaving. This final rule gives opponents a chance to win back what they have lost to you. If you bust out, you may buy back in for at least the table minimum or leave.

Once you have told the dealer how much money you are playing, the dealer may sell you chips right away or call over a chip runner to do so. You may want to tell the dealer that you are a first-time player. This is a signal to the dealer to give a little explanation when it is your turn to act, and to the other players to extend you a bit of courtesy when you slow down the game. Everyone will figure it out in a few minutes anyway, so don’t be bashful. You may even ask to sit out a few hands just to see how it all works.

There are three ways that pots are seeded with money at the beginning of the hand. The most familiar to the home player is the “ante”, where each player tosses a small amount into the pot for the right to be dealt a hand. The second way, often used in conjunction with an ante, is the “forced bring-in”. For example, in seven-card stud, after everyone antes and is dealt the first three cards, the player with the lowest up card may be forced to bet to get things started. The third way, often used in games without up cards like Hold’em or Omaha, is a “forced blind bet”. This is similar to the bring-in, but is always made by the person immediately after the player with the “button”. The “button” is a plastic disk that moves around the table and indicates which player is acting as dealer for the hand (of course, the house dealer does the actual dealing of cards, but does not play). A second or even third blind may follow the first, usually of increasing size. Whichever seed method is used, note that this initial pot, small as it is, is the only reason to play at all.

If the game has blinds, the dealer may now ask you if you want to “post”. This means, “do you want to pay extra to see a hand now, in bad position, and then pay the blinds, or are you willing to sit and watch for a few minutes?” Answer “no, I’ll wait” and watch the game until the dealer tells you it’s time to begin, usually after the blinds pass you.

Finally, it is your turn to get cards and play. Your first impression will probably be how fast the game seems to move. If you are playing stud, several up cards may be “mucked” (folded into the discards) before you even see them; if you are playing hold’em, it may be your turn to act before you have looked at your cards. After a few hands you should settle into the rhythm and be able to keep up. If you ever get confused, just ask the dealer what is going on.
